Back in Bonnyville May 3-May 8

May 3
After our normal morning routine we headed back out to Paul and Di's. On their 66 acres they have a five acre lake front area that we call the campground. It has three old cabins, three outhouses and a large firepit area. There is tons of room to park numerous RV's and we camp there many times each year so we often help out with maintenance. The white cabin is in need of a new roof as it is leaking. Paul had tried to quickly tarp it before heading back to Edmonton but it didn't hold.  When we got there the road to the beach was far to soft and muddy for our truck so we borrowed Paul and Di's quad to ride down in.
We loaded up our supplies to see what we could do. We managed to secure the tarps without causing any further damage (like falling through the roof...lol).  It's a wee bit of a redneck repair job but will hold temporarily.

Hope it holds up
We came home to start polishing the trailer. We started on the kitchen slide which looked to need it the most. After doing the entire kitchen/living room slide we realized it looked terrible.
I was happy to climb down off my ladder to take pictures :)
We didn't realize how bad the oxidization had gotten. We are going to need to a different product before we can continue.  Oh good, another road trip to either St. Paul or Cold Lake to a Canadian Tire to get Meguiar's Oxidation Remover. We will try that another day! We cleaned up just in time for our friend Derek to pop in for a visit. He was on his way back from his days off spent in Edmonton. Derek had compiled a photo album of Dave's last week at work plus had photo-shopped him into some very hilarious situations. So funny!
Dave misses his boy.

Friday we decided to jump in the Mustang and do a quick run to Pineridge to plot out our future garage and get the permit application in to Parkland County.
Margaret in the back seat!! Like a dog!?! She much prefers the truck, thank you very much!
After much measuring, staking, remeasuring, restaking and arguing  we decided that we would have to move our shed to another place on the lot if we wanted the garage to fit with room to back the fifth wheel in safely.
This shed must move. Note the ruts we made in April with the dually...oops
At 4:00 pm I jumped in the driver seat so Dave could ensure all the permit paperwork was correct on our drive to Stony Plain. First I had him look up the address as we knew there was two different offices and wanted to get to the right one as we thought they closed at 5pm and no-one wants to be THAT guy who shows up late on a Friday afternoon. Well, guess what! They close at 4:30!! Crap! Hope there are no RCMP patrolling. Dave called them and explained our situation. I drove rather quickly and managed to get us there by 4:26 pm. Dave was very apologetic and the ladies at the county office were very gracious. The permit was submitted and we were out of there by 4:32! Thanks ladies :)
By this time we were too tired to drive back to Bonnyville so I called up my son, Ryan and we ended up staying there for the night. They made up some BBQ'ed burgers and a Caesar salad and my daughter, Sam, stopped by too.
Ryan, me and Sam
Saturday we had breakfast with Ryan and Ashtyn and got on the road by 10am. We stopped at Canadian Tire in St. Paul to get more cleaner and polisher for the trailer and arrived in Bonnyville by 1 pm. Once home we started on the trailer for a couple hours. We know how the karate kid felt. Man, that's hard work!
Dave checking my work...lol
Good job team!

Our arms and shoulders are feeling the all the polishing we have been doing. We're going to start the day with a run/walk and work out the kinks. Our road is off the main path so it's not unusual to see deer, rabbits and the odd fox as we walk around. Margaret is old so the rabbits outrun her but she tries lol.
Where's that wabbit ??

Nope! Not chasing those "rabbits".
We love this part of our neighbourhood and it makes the walk/run so much nicer than in town or a city.
We usually plan our routes so that we meet up along the way so I got this picture while Dave was walking a bit. We are both really pleased with being able to extend our distances these days. The gains make the whole process more exciting to do and more satisfying overall.
Down about 8 pounds and best run so far is 9km in an hour!
After we cleaned up we hopped in our Fusion to go over to Allan & Denise's house to let them check it out. We are selling the Fusion because we don't plan on needing a winter car anymore! They are looking for something that gets better mileage than their 1/2 ton truck and we are confident that the Fusion will be a good car for them. Super reliable vehicle for years now. We let Denise test drive the car while we visited with Allan. She had a big smile on her face so I think we have a deal :). We stayed for coffee and Paul and Diana came over for a little visit too. After hugs we made arrangements to meet Allan & Denise later this week to switch title on the car and off we went for groceries in town on the way back to our house. We stopped at the boat launch on our way home to get a couple pics of the ice receding on the lake. Won't be long now and the ice will flip and be gone for another year.

Almost ready for boats. The lake level is way up!
May 7
Our shoulders feel better so we continued the rig polish. Just about done! While we were working I took this pic of these rings around the sun or "sun dogs" as we have heard them called.
Cool huh? Cold front is forecast tomorrow.
We did a few more chores and did a quick trip to town. Ice on the lake is gone in the bay close to our place but not on the west side of the lake yet. Sorry no pics :(
May 8
Dave wanted to get a run in this morning but I am staying home to do a major clean. He registered for a 10k in St Albert on July 14! First actual event run and Rachelle is running too. Very exciting! Our realtor texted last night and we have our first showing on our house today at 4:30 !! The house needs a good clean after our being away and the windows haven't been done all winter. Here I go! Out of the way pets, Momma's cleaning! Dave cleaned up in the garage and I worked on the windows and interior for the whole day. It's show home clean in my books. Fingers crossed that the people looking like it! We decided to have Dominos for supper tonight. Gets us out for the viewing and I don't feel like cooking and neither does Dave. Back home for the evening to get some rest before Dave's brother, John, arrives tomorrow from Victoria.
