A few days at Pineridge aka new home. April 21 - 27

April 21
We were up early to get coffee and a bite to eat before the first AGM at Pineridge Golf and RV Resort. Rainy day and windy so a good day to be inside. We got to the clubhouse by 10'ish and meeting started at 10:30. It is a good chance to get to know some of the other lot owners and say hi to folks we know already. Some great people volunteered to form the board for our Phase and we voted on some business items. Meeting lasted until about 1:30, long enough for our travel butts in those chairs!! We went back to the rig and relaxed for a bit. With the rain and wind we decided to stay put and worked on a blog post. We ventured out for a couple walks around the resort but basically took a day off and went to bed early that night.

Feeling much better today and the sun is out. Yay, there's our sunny Alberta! We made arrangements yesterday to meet up with my sister Lorin and my kids Ryan & Sam with Ryan's girlfriend Ashtyn. Our destination: Browns Social House in west Edmonton. GPS is set and away we go. It took almost an hour but we found the restaurant and ran into Sam in the parking lot!! Big hugs and in we go to see the rest of the gang.

So happy to see everyone!! It's only been 7 weeks but I missed everyone. We had a nice brunch and decided to meet at Lorin's house afterwards. Lorin has 2 elderly cats and we each have a small dog. The poor cats sort of hide while we are there with the dogs running around.
Kirby, Taco and Margaret (sorry kitties)
We all visited in the living room and time just flew by because it was close to 5pm and we were hungry again. We ordered pizza from Royal Pizza and it was really good!! After supper everyone had to leave and prep for their work weeks. Haha, we don't !!! We like retirement so far but we still have things to do at our lot so we also said goodbye and left for home. Thanks Lorin for hosting.
that's a Dave hug ;)

Lorin's downsizing, everybody got treats

We have more people we want to see while in the area today so after our morning routine and some calls we left Seba Beach (Pineridge) and drove into Edmonton again to see our friends Howard and Crystal (aka Chris). We met in them in Bonnyville back in 2007 when we moved into our cabin across the road from their cabin. Howard is a retired Canada Post manager and Chris stays home and looks after Howard haha! They are a little older than us but we really enjoy spending time and visiting with them, so much fun all the time.
Crystal and Howard (he combed his hair special!)
We visited for a couple of hours and then said our goodbyes because we are joining Dave's nephew, Graham, and his kids for a pizza supper in Fort Saskatchewan. Bad timing on our part, we left Howard's just after 5pm in west Edmonton and we need to cross the city to get to the highway and out to Grahams house. Our bad. It was fairly heavy traffic but we made it close to on time. Graham had picked up supper so we had a bite and then got to enjoy a nice visit with him and his kids. Grahams better half, Brittany, is a figure skate coach and she was working but got home around 7:30 and joined us outside with the kids.
Graham, Katelyn, Rylan's back  and Dave
 There's Rylan!!

Katelyn and Rylan on the trampoline, so cute :)

We stayed until after 8 and then after hugs and handshakes we drove for just over an hour back to Pineridge. Phew ready for bed!

Woke up to a beautiful day outside! Supposed to be 20C today! We are heading to Bonnyville from Pineridge today. Too bad we have to leave today as our lot is finally drying out. It will be nice to get back to the house and Smoky, our cat, misses us and we miss him  too. We both agreed that it's going to be weird at home after living in our trailer for a while. We like this life but until we sell the house we have work to do. Not so bad, we love our house and yard. We built it just the way we like it.
 Home sweet home
Smoky missed his Mom :(

Ah home again.... and we have a large list of things to do! Last night when we got back our satellite had no signal! C'mon!! We just want to kick back and watch TV! Dave worked with a tech online but to no avail We have to wait for a satellite guy to come on Thursday between 9 & 1pm. Good thing we have some stuff on PVR.  So we dug in to some projects, nothing picture worthy: laundry, cleaning the fridge and getting the Mustang out from under cover for the summer. Add in some yard work and that was it really. Was more work than it seems here?
April 26
I got a text message early this morning asking if I could work today! I'm still a casual employee at Bonnyville Hospital and someone called in sick last minute. I said I would go and am kind of excited to see the girls again! Dave is waiting for the satellite guy anyway and then putting the grass bagger on the tractor for some mowing tomorrow. Nice.... get to see my girls and make a little money but, holy man, is it ever busy!! Stayed busy all day and when I got some down time I worked on the 687 emails I missed. lol.
Satellite guy got to the house around 12:30 and after a bit they discovered the dish had moved a tiny bit and was missing a lock on the second satellite but still showed a 97% signal. Hmm how did that dish get bumped :)   Yard work day tomorrow.
April 27
The morning was still fairly cool so we will be waiting a bit for grass mowing, too damp.
We have been working hard on trying to develop a routine since December to be more active and get out and exercise often. Dave started on eliptical and treadmill and with my disc issues I am walking but trying to increase the distance and speed that I walk. Running is too jarring but fast walking is great! So that's what we did this morning. Dave went for a jog and I took Margaret out for a nice long walk. It's working well for us both. We feel better and even Margaret is happy! Are you kidding? Daily walks woo-hoo! After that we went to Bonnyville for groceries and some other running around. Did some tree pruning when we got home and Dave tried the mowing for a bit. We'll really get at it tomorrow. We're retired, let's have a happy hour and supper then "retire" to our basement to watch the newly repaired satellite.

  1. You guys sure have been keeping busy! It’s always great to get back and visit with family and friends. Hopefully your house sells soon.

    1. If we could sell the house life would be a lot simpler. We've had 2 showings but no offers yet. Fingers crossed! And people said retirement is boring.... when is that exactly? lol
