June 24-28, The day after the race.

June 24
Leslie and I were awake first this morning. We're still a little tired even though we slept like a rock.  Leslie grabbed us coffees at the lobby and I headed down to the parking lot to start organizing the back of the Expedition. We brought the suitcases in last night but there is a ton of stuff still out there. Leslie came out a little bit after me and said the rest of the crew was awake and will be down in a bit. When they came down we packed up and headed for breakfast. Ailsa is walking kind of stiff-legged but not bad for running 100 miles, some blisters but that's not unusual. She's hungry though!!
Downtown Auburn, really cool.
We found a place downtown Auburn that we forgot to take pictures of so we can't remember the name, sorry. It was really good food but we sat outside on the patio, holy hot!! Next stop is back to Placer High for the awards ceremony. By coming in under 24 hours Ailsa gets a silver belt buckle too so that's great.
100 mile buckle
Good work champ!
Our next stop is Sacramento. We have a reservation at Hampton Inn by the airport. We're a little early but luckily our rooms are ready anyway. It was a short sleep last night/this morning and we all want to relax a bit. A little  dip in the pool and a cold beer, perfect!
Rockin' my $10 Walmart swim gear and a farmer tan!
The scratches and scrapes from the race are easy to see today. Ailsa's legs got pretty scratched from running through bush trails and from falling down a few times so it is expected.
A little race damage but she'll heal
We had a nice relaxing time by the pool until we all agreed on a short nap before dinner. Beer and sun was like a sleeping pill so we set an alarm and crashed for 45 minutes or so. After that we got washed up and headed to Malabar for supper It was only a short walk away.
Me, Leslie, Shannon, Barry and Ailsa.
The food and the service was really good and of course the company was awesome. Shannon and Barry have a later flight to Italy in the morning while Ailsa, Leslie and I have an early start to fly back to Edmonton. Barry paid for dinner which was really nice of him. I offered to chip in but he picked up the tab saying they were glad we came to Western States to help out. Ya see, these guys are so great! We walked back to the hotel and said goodbye to Barry and Shannon as we are catching the shuttle early and won't see them again. So jealous they are going to Italy and we're going to Edmonton. It'll be good to be home and sleep until whenever though! No more alarms and hopefully a little cooler weather. We are done with 38C for a while!
June 25
We're up at 5 a.m. to catch the shuttle to the airport. Had a great breakfast at the Sacramento airport, good food and good service. That would be the last of that for today unfortunately. Our flight had a 3 hour stop in Seattle and the Sea-Tac airport was packed. We wanted to find a pub for a beer and a burger as Ailsa wants calories. We waited for a table at Seattle Brewing Company and sat down when another couple left. The server was having a really bad day it seems. She walked past us a couple times and slammed the chair into an empty table that was stacked with dirty dishes. We grabbed our own menus which brought another chair slam and she disappeared for a while but showed up with food for another table. Okay great..our turn?! Nope, wouldn't even look at us. We sat there for 10 or 15 minutes being ignored so we left. We managed to snag seats together at the bar at Alaskan Brewing. Again the place is packed but at least we get service. Yayy! Unfortunately the food was terrible. They ran out of fries so they threw a handful of potato chips on the side. That was the "good" part. At least the beer was good and I talked to a fella beside us that had just come from Alaska on a fishing trip. Nice guy and great stories. We got home a couple minutes ahead of schedule and cleared customs with no issues. We picked up Margaret at Sam's place and then off to St Albert to Ailsa's place. We threw the luggage in the truck, gave Ailsa big hugs and were off to the rig at Pineridge. We slept for close to 11 hours!! Perfect! Poor Ailsa had to be back at the airport the next morning to fly back to work. Uggghh!
June 26
We got up and started packing up to head back to Bonnyville for a couple days. It was a nice day and we got home and unpacked fairly early. By 3:30 I threw in a couple loads of laundry and we went for a short nap. Amazing how tired we still are. Around 4:15 Rachelle texted to see if Dave wanted to go for a run. We jumped out of bed and off they went. After a short while Rachelle came back to the house and told me that at 3.8 km Dave's calf had started to spasm again. I jumped in the side-by-side and went to pick him up. Massage, hot pack and movie night coming up! lol
June 27
Wednesday was spent mowing the acreage, doing a bit of mower maintenance and running errands in town like getting mail and groceries. Very busy, no pictures. lol
June 28
We are heading into Edmonton/Pineridge tomorrow for a few weeks so most of the day was spent packing up. We are going to spend the Canada Day long weekend at Ryan and Ashtyn's helping them build their fence and a few other things so we have to take a lot of tools and equipment. We also need to extend our real estate listing so we met our realtor in town. He went over how dismal the market still is but did not recommend dropping our list price. He also had just got a call that someone wanted to view the house tonight at 9 pm. I guess we will drive to Pineridge tonight instead. We went home and cleaned the house before leaving at 4 pm. Phew! For this long of a stay we are taking both vehicles so that we don't have to take the truck everywhere. The Mustang is way easier to park and fun to drive too. Next up.... a relaxing Canada Day weekend building a fence etc. Haha.
