March 22, 2018 Victoria, BC

March 22
I have tons of allergies so I am used to sinus issues. I had been having lots of pain and pressure in my ears, sinuses and head aches so I finally broke down and went to see a doctor. Turns out my left eustachian tube is totally blocked, right one is almost as bad and I have both an ear and a sinus infection. Hmmmm, that explains a lot. Walked out of the pharmacy with a bagful of medications. Hope it helps. We picked up John around noon and took a drive out toward Sidney. Dave and I wanted to scope out our next RV park plus John wanted to give us a tour of the area. Of course we needed lunch first so we stopped at the Prairie Inn.
Fantastic food and great service. After lunch we toured the area.

John is a great tour guide because he has lived on the Island for a long time and has explored lots of it. We drove around as much of the coast roads as possible and some beautiful acreages then back to the rig to relax. Retirement is exhausting!

A beautiful sunny day today so we are taking the bikes over to Johns place and going for a bike ride and lunch. We pedalled through the Uplands neighbourhood (very high end) and enjoyed all the flowers and trees in full blossom! Mostly downhill, my favourite! We stopped at a park by the Uplands golf course to look at the ocean and then continued on to Oak Bay marina for a nice lunch in the cafeteria.
Me trying to stuff kleenex in my ears to stop the wind. Thanks John!

We continued the ride after lunch and a short walk to check out the boats in the marina. John used to sail out of this marina many years ago. John took us on a different road back to his house, uphill quite a bit, not my favourite. Along the way is a sculpture of a nose and sunglasses, of course we stopped.

I bet we're not the only ones.

We stayed at John's for supper because he had bought tickets to a wind symphony at Uvic where the clarinet professor was retiring (she was Johns daughter Heather prof) and the conductor was also retiring after that performance. Dave and I are not regular symphony goers but holy smokes was that ever good! So much to see and hear and we had great seats on the first row of the second tier. We really enjoyed ourselves Thanks John!

We stayed at the RV park all day and took advantage of the beautiful day to get some exercise for Margaret and of course us as well. We are watching the weather in Bonnyville and seeing the freezing temps and snow and maybe laughing a little. That's mean I know but can't help it.
Sorry Bonnyville
That afternoon we headed back to John's place to park and leave Margaret in the house while we meet Johns daughter Shannon and her fiance Dan at a Korean BBQ for supper. Sura Korean bbq was great once we figured out what was going on! No one had been there before but we managed quite well, the food is cooked at your table, so delicious. A quick walk to Save On Memorial Arena for Victoria Royals vs Vancouver Giants in game 2 of the first round of the WHL playoffs. Shannon's work bought a box so we are sneaking in with her and enjoying box seats and all the cushy benefits that includes. Thanks Shannon!!

we got free towels to wave ! Dave,John,Dan and Shannon

Royals won that game 4 -3 so the series is tied as they head back to Vancouver for games 3 & 4. We had a couple adult beverages and a great time enjoying the box seats. So good to see Shannon and Dan and we made arrangements to pop over to their house tomorrow for a visit. The RV park is close to their house.

  1. The Praire Inn is a local favourite. Next time try their Belly Buster Burger. It’s humungous!
